I have been studying about the simulation theory for quite a while and have my own theory on why I think that the simulation even exists and what is our purpose. I believe that the creators of this simulation themselves think that there world might be a simulation. They wanted to figure out ways to try to exit their simulation and discover the unknown. But they would require the minds of a lot of genius people to be able to figure out something that complex. So they created us ( the simulations ). I believe that there are many other simulations simultaneously running too ( eg parallel universes ) where the laws of nature are different and the past and the future are different, even people's fate is different. There are millions of these simulations which are evolving into genius people only so that 'they' (us) are able to figure out a way to exit the simulation we live in.
